The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan Yojana) is a government scheme in India that offers minimum income support to small and marginal farmers. Under this program, eligible farmer families receive up to Rs 6,000 per year. The scheme is designed to benefit 125 million farmers in the country, irrespective of the size of their landholding.
The PM Kisan Yojana disburses this annual income support in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each, distributed every four months. Eligible families are defined as households consisting of a husband, wife, and their minor children. The Rs 2,000 assistance is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers or their families. This initiative aims to provide financial stability to farmers and improve their livelihoods.
Objectives of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna
The objective of the PM-Kisan Yojana is to provide financial assistance to all families of landholding farmers. This assistance is intended to help them purchase necessary agricultural inputs to maintain the health of their crops and achieve desired yields, aligning with their expected farm income. Under this scheme, the Central Government disburses an annual amount of Rs. 6,000 directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers through online transfers, using the Direct Benefit Transfer mode. However, there are certain exclusions or criteria that determine eligibility for this financial support.
